    Mitchell’s Bay Open Bass Tournament Update-July 3

The countdown is on with only six weeks to go until the tournament and we have lots to share with you! The higher water levels have kept pickerel biting and limits are still being caught. This past weekend the Detroit Bassmasters were in the Bay for a two day club event. Saturday produced good results with the leader coming in at 19.5 lbs and the largest fish of the day was 5.28 lbs.

Speaking of the largest fish, the Mitchell’s Bay Marine Park just confirmed sponsorship of $1,000.00 for the largest bass weighed in at our tournament!

Weatherby has just been confirmed as a new sponsor and is donating a rifle for the auction event.

As well, we have partnered with our local Big Brothers/Big Sisters Association and will host a children’s fishing event on Saturday, August 16th. The children will head out on charter boats for a fun filled morning of fishing followed by lunch. They will then take home not only the experiences of the day but also their own fishing gear!

Finally, we are looking forward to hosting all of the registered anglers on Thursday, August 14th for our first Anglers Night which will consist of a meal, meet and greet and a short but important tournament meeting. Stay tuned for further updates.

Register now so that you don’t miss out on all the excitement and avoid paying the late registration fee after July 16th.

Entry Form, Rules and more information can be found at www.mitchellsbay.org and www.bigfatbass.com .

Profits raised from this event will be earmarked for habitat restoration and recreational amenity improvements to Mitchell’s Bay. Additional sponsorship interest is welcome and can be directed to Tom Beaton at (519 350 3709) or tomb@chatham-kent.ca
