• The Ultimate Bass Challenge

A NEW Tradition begins this Fall with the Ultimate Bass Challenge, projected to pay out up to $1,000 for the first big fish, $400 for the second and $200 for the third each hour with additional over all big fish cash prizes including a tournament twist at the end of the day and a total purse possibly exceeding well over $13,000 reflecting on 100 teams at $180 entry, paying back accordingly on greater field sizes, this October 5th, 2014 on the beautiful water of Lake Couchiching.

Big Bass contests have become the new rave of the South, a cross between a tournament and a derby for bass anglers, and has become successful in making their way into the North. For those of you not familiar with these events, they award the biggest bass weighed in every hour. The CSFL views this format as an opportunity to introduce the sport to new anglers allowing UBC Teams to consist of a maximum of three anglers per boat.

In 2014, the Fall Challenge took on a new one day format and reduced its entry fee to $225 which takes place on October 4th. Anglers that have traditionally fished the two day Fall Challenge can continue to enjoy a second day of competition through the UBC in a fishery that is most know for its quality of overwhelming numbers of both small and largemouth bass for this time of year.

The UBC and the Fall Challenge will be restricted to Lake Couchiching this year, with no locking in the North and the Atherley Bridge to the South. Blast off is scheduled for 8:00 am with the official tournament scale opening at 8:30am. The UBC will have a 1st, 2nd & 3rd big fish cash prize every hour until 2 pm, followed by a regular weigh in at 3:00 pm at the Orillia town docks with three pay spots for a maximum of 6 fish allowing the team to cash-in one fish every hour and possibly winning the tournament component at the end of the day as they must use their pre weighed fish as part of their 6 fish limit. Teams wishing to weigh out during the day may do so at anytime however only one fish maybe used for that hour’s big fish. Pre-fishing for the UBC and the Fall Challenge ends at 5:00pm on Friday, October 3rd.

Entry Fee is $180 per team and $200 per team after September 26.
