Yeppers, you heard correct. Andy should make a formal announcement soon.
The 08' Classic will be on Bay of Quinte.....The Bay ONLY...no main lake.
All 3 days??

Only on the Bay eh ? I heard Vegas got word of this and are now offering 3-1 odds on Mike and Mary Nabulsi to win the CSFL Classic in '08 :)
That SUCKS BIG TIME :!
With Couch now including Simcoe, pretty well makes my mind up for next season
Pat
Whats a matter Pat,your fan dangle new gps/fish finder wont work for that area:?:P:P:P
You missed a great fall challange bud.
Danny boy,Oprah is the BOMB man.:clap:clap:P
Hi Brian
Naw just ticked off that once again promises made, promises changed. Like a northern tour that didn't happen, like going to classic waters where the usuals have a decided advantage. With the Lake of Bays producing a new CHAMPION that figured out new water, I guess the regulars didn't like that and did a better job of convincing Andy to go back to old waters.
Bad day at work I guess. I know I missed a great weekend on the big water, but the wife just got back from Ireland Friday, so figured I should be around for one weekend. Great weights as usual, funny how Couch can produce the weights, the excitement,
and the potential big mixes of buckets and smalies without having to throw Simcoe into the mix eh??
Stay tuned for the Highland Bass Tour- 5 dates that don't conflict with Bassmania, low entry fees ($100/event). Not sure yet if the tour will be an affiliate of the Haliburton Highlands Outdoors Association or not. Making my pitch at their AGM Sunday.
Kashagawigamog, Elephant, 12 Mile, Gull Lake, and one other to be determined (may be a draw lake or an evening tourney on Kash). Classic location (like the BassChamps tour will be drawn the night before from participant submissions) Individual scoring so you can rotate partners, enjoy one or more events with a friend or spouse. Point bonuses for big fish, entry fee draw. Emphasis on fun
Stay tuned
Pat
Ok for the record;
1/ Open the lake for the Quinte Classic...I'm not worried about any of it.
If I'm fishin a Classic I want it to be against the bestno ifs and or buts!
2/ I loved going to Lake Of Bays!! If anyone complained it wasn't this cat.
I will give Bassmania credit for getting the schedule out, announsing the Classic site, and once again thanks for a great season...
If we are voting...put be down for Lake Of Bays!
Hey Brian I had you pegged for DRm Phil....in the house!!!
Peace
Dan
That's too bad, I can understand what Pat's saying. I think there will be more than a few people disappointed about the idea of a Quinte Classic in 08'.
It's a great fishery, don't get me wrong, but there are already 2 tournaments scheduled for those who plan to fish the Eastern Tour. I know this year seemed to work out ideally on Lake of Bays as it is now an event on next year's Western Tour, but it was perfect as it was a neutral body of water having not been tournament fished by the Bassmania Trail.
It seems like there are a lot of great fisheries in Ontario that would also offer this opportunity at a level playing field by furthermore giving everyone a chance to learn a new body of water. It was great to see Chris and Jay win this year's classic. Obviously two great anglers but also first time winners.
If Quinte becomes finalized, I'm sure it will be a great event as Bassmania could only build on such a great show they put on for us in Dorset. Hopefully the crew will try to find neutral bodies of water in years to come and this may become easier if Andy plans on trimming the classic field down.
Cheers,
Hi Dan
Hope the weather and the food is good in Chicago.
I agree kudos to Andy for getting 2008 put to bed. I need to correct something in my last post as well. Andy NEVER PROMISED a northern tour or a Kash event, we just discussed it on an number of occassions. Next year, after I'm done whining I'll probably end up fishing the Rice/Quinte weekends to get some time on Quinte plus the Highland Tour. I have really enjoyed the Ex series the past few years with the mix of slop and rock that series brings. Different waters, different tactics.
I know I'm still ticked about missing this years show by 9 points or about 8 ounces for the season. Nobody to blame but ourselves, we hooked the fish just didn't boat 'em. That and adding up the 2007 tourney expenses too soon is really dumb.:P
Licking my wounds and venting to a bunch of guys who could care less is actually pretty soothing, that and the nice weather forecast for this weekend means maybe the Haliburton smallies are ready to do battle.
Pat?fish?fish
Hey Pat,
Weather is same as TO...just a little more wind...might be because Oprah is here...hahahahhahahaha Man the wife is going to shoot me!!
Life is good..I'm not stressing ...I'm retired anyways....for this year anyways....
Peace
Dan

:P:P Not likely, we have had our butts kicked by out of towners this year :clap
Hi Mike,
Scott and I had a great time competing against you guys and the rest of the Quinte locals. 3 for 5 against you isn't bad for our first year doing the QFS. :P We are not sure but we might switch to CSFL next year because of Scotts work. We will know for sure once we see the dates from Pete.
Way to Go Bassmania!:clap
How can you complain about fishing a classic on one of Ontarios fishing hotbeds. Hope I got what it takes to qualify.?fish
Pete
Now that it's on a lake that I don't have to go after those stupid Brown Fish ?fish:! I think we will try alot harder to make the classic :D.
Way to go Andy:clap
Come one Dave I keep hearing that same comment...isn't being well versed in catching Largemouth and Smallmouth a good thing???
Maybe its me and I don't get it...but Learning to catch those "brown fish" was a nice challange.
Just a thought.
Peace
Dan
I really enjoyed Lake of Bays, and would love to go back for another classic, however, Quinte sound great also! you won't make everyone happy, and I don't believe in the Local favourite thing, like Mike says, just cause you are from there doesn't guarantee a win.
Im just wondering if anyone knows why Andy has closed off the main lake for classic, with it being the biggest tournament of the year should guys not be able run as far as they want? Also just wondering if Andy is closing off the main lake for the two qualifiers?? I'm not trying to stir the pot or cause trouble here just trying to figure out what I'm going to do next season. I know that alot of people are happy about the choice to make it the bay only but I think everyone for the most part has the same chance to run the big lake if they wish (I say for the most part because I know that some people don't have the boat to do it.)
Thanks for any answers on this
Jamie
Yeah what he said :O:DQuote:

I dont care where it is. I would just like to make it. ?fish?fish
Whats a brown fish,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,:?:8:!
Jamie, I talked to Andy today, the lake is open for the Quinte Aug 2 and 3 tourny only. Still a great idea to go bay only on the classic when you consider guys from the BM100 will be fishing it as well. As for the fishing against the best, well if they are that good this will test their skills on a level playing field. It puts guys with 21 footers evenly beside the 17 and 18 footers. Skill/Technique not isoloated spots will most likely determine the outcome.
Just curious as to where the line has been drawn to decifer the main lake and the bay?
BM100 is the restricted HP circuit. Why considered putting the reins on the unrestricted guys in the bassmania trail, especially at the year end feature. The Quinte events are great because you have such a vast array of options. Don't limit them...especially for a classic.
I agree with you Harry, I don't think you should limit the water just because there are guys like Deforge and Chonger who are always known to bring in big sacks from Lake Ontario. It is hard to compete with the boys who make the run for smallies but it forces you to learn the big water if you want to compete.
I guess Andy did this for the majority who would not likey have the boat nor the inclination to fish Lake Ontario. Makes sense for the 25 boats in the BM100's, maybe not for the some of other 100. Just my 2 cents........
Hopefully you might see WFN & the CPAA come out with a big water circuit next year to cater to those who are craving high dollar/high payback tournaments.
ok..............oh never mind........don't want to ruin it for everyone......Good luck to all the teams next year......see you on Quinte!!
I agree with Mike that this levels the playing field. To win the classic you will need to beat all the other anglers because you figured things out from what's available, not because you have the boat, experience and money to make long runs. There are alot of teams aside from the bm100's that either don't have the boat or the big water experience to take on the big water. It just keeps everyone in the game.
just my 2 cents
Part of beating the best is beating the guys that are willing to make the 60, 70, 80 mile runs to find unpressured fish. As for the BM100 boats I thought I saw somewhere in the rules for next year that they are allowed to use a larger boat for the classic if they have access to it, I could be wrong on this one. I'm just puzzled over why the main lake would be open for the August qualifiers and not for the "big show", it doesnt just cut off the smallie water but also a lot of great bucket water (Kingston area). As Brad said opening up the lake forces guys to learn how to fish big water, as for boat size Simon Frost won the 2000 Canadian Open fishing Lake Erie out of 16 foot aluminum boat with a 40hp tiller. To me it's the same as having a classic on Cooch and closing off Simcoe. Once again not trying to cause trouble just want to find the reason why it's open for one and not the other.
Hey Jamie, again this is a guess. The August 2,3 is open to anyone (no hp restrictions) and the Classic includes the BM100 qualifiers. Craig may have comments to add as again I'm guessing here.
In my opinion only...the reasoning is like in Nascar...let the skill set and ability stand out..not the ability to acquire the best equipment or spend the most gas.
Why do you think in FLW they fish in identical Rangers for the top 10. As longs as the BM 100 does not have their own classic, you will always have to give some concideration on big water classics.
For me I will fish where I think I can win, if it means traveling to NY State or 2 hrs up the St Lawrance or staying in the bay...if that's where I need to be, that's where I will be.
My question is, why have a classic you don't have to qualify for dose'nt it lose its zapp or zing...its just another tourney then.
Peace
Dan
Gents,
I was just speaking with Andy and he has only recieved one call from a concerned angler (Mike Nabulsi) with questions regarding the Quinte Classic. I recommend if anybody has any questions to just give him a call and he'll explain to you his reasonings for the Bay only. He's more then happy to discuss it with anybody.
Andy's cell is 416-802-2277 and he can be reached 24/7
Great!....I'll give him a call around 3:00am.......:D:!
Great idea Fraser....he does it to me all the time!!!!!!!
