Top Bass Stoney Lake Tournament Cancelled

Sorry george, But the only public launch close to Burliegh is at the locks and it's at the top on Lovesick Lake.

The 2 launches at Burliegh are at the old Sportsman's Hotel, which is now owned by Viameed, which is where the tournament was originally to be held and there is no where there to set up the stage and the other location is the Burliegh Island Lodge, formerly the Park Hotel. Ian, the owner, had originaly agreed to the event but then decided it would effect his holiday buisness too much.

Unfortunatly this is one of the few lakes on the Trent system that dosn't have a public camp ground or Provincial Park. There is lots of Crown land but it all either has cottages on it or it is islands.

I think that the only option is to make sure that next year this event is held on a weekend that is not a public holiday and hopfully it can be a Saturday and Sunday event.

What seems to be getting overlooked here is as was stated in one of the earlier posts is that Ted and Larry sent a couple of days driving from one potential location to another and they were "UNABLE" to get permision from any of them to alow the event.

The only option is to start planning for 2007 and just get on with 2006.
