Press Release

For Immediate Release: October 1st, 2007

The Aurora Bassmasters are pleased to announce that due to overwhelming demand and the active participation of numerous partners that have agreed to support the Bass Pro Shops Lake Simcoe Open on October 27th, the event will move from its current home at Monto Reno Marina over to Sutton’s Sibbald Point Provincial Park on Lake Simcoe.

Herb Quan president of the Aurora Bassmasters explained, “With a full field this year and so much more additional parking space required for guests, sponsor reps and equipment, we realized that the marina was just too small for us to operate our tournament efficiently. The decision to move locations was not an easy one because of the outstanding support we have had from Monto Reno over the last several years. On behalf of the entire Aurora Bassmasters chapter I’d like to thank them for all they have done to make the former Crackle Cup so successful. At the same time, I would also like to thank Ontario Parks for stepping in and for their commitment moving forward – we’re excited to say the least. This new format has great promise in the years to come.”

Quan went on to add, “In our place, Frosty’s Revenge (Day One) will be out of Monto Reno Marina on Saturday, October 20th . It will definitely be a great opportunity to pre-fish for the Bass Pro Shops Lake Simcoe Open!”

Doug MacEachern, superintendent of Sibbald Point added, “We are happy to welcome the BPS Open tournament here on Oct 27. This high profile event will be a wonderful opportunity to showcase our park and the amazing bass fishery of Lake Simcoe. With ample space, parking and a boat launch that can handle several boats launching simultaneously, we are certain anglers will appreciate this venue.”

“We’re extremely pleased to be making the crossover to Monto Reno for Day One of Frosty’s Revenge. This will provide a great back-and-forth between Lake Simcoe and Lake Erie (Day Two) – two tremendous fisheries – producing a two-day Champion that is able to master both bodies of water!” said Melanie Frost of Frosty’s Revenge.
