New Ardent Culling System Now In Stock at Fishing World

    Product Description

The Ardent SmartCull Professional Culling System is a first-of-its-kind, two-stage system that allows you to cull by color and weight. A series of six highly buoyant, impact-resistant balls eliminates the need for markers, charts or computers. The easy-to-read numbers record up to 15 pounds, 15 ounces, and setting weight on each ball is quick and simple. No more reweighing, extra handling or extra stress on fish. Thanks to SmartCull, it’s never been easier to make sure you’re keeping the best, and getting rid of the rest.

Saw those in FLW's magazine...a great idea ! One improvement might be to add plastic pinch style clips like Berkley uses instead of using stringer style metal clips that are supplied. I'll definetely be trying these next year.

So , essentially, the ball itself is the scale unit? Hmmmmm:? I wonder how accurate one ball will be compared to the next ball? That would explain the old style locking metal hooks.

It looks like the balls are just a dial

That is a very cool idea!

I have used Ardent reels this year and they have held up very well and cast a mile. I used 2 Ardent 1000XS for musky jigging on a St. Croix legend musky rod and they are tough to say the least.
In other good news, Ardent reels are made in the USA.

I believe the balls are just dials (like mentioned above) and you would still require a scale so you can dial the right weight on each ball as you put the fish in the live well. It's a great idea.

Awesome looking units and yes you still have to weigh the fish but no need for markers and boards that go missing or get wet and smear. I will be trying these out this weeknd on Erie in the Frostys Events. Can't wait. Anything that makes the bitter sweetness of culling faster and easier is awesome!

I've had a set for 2 weeks now, really looking forward to using them next year, like Craig said-no more smudging or in my case loosing markers!
