Kingston Tournament Welcomes More Partners

Kingston, Ontario: One month to go and The Canadian Open of Fishing continues to grow!

The Canadian Open of Fishing on Lake Ontario will blast off from Kingston, Ontario on Thursday July 22nd. For three days, some of the best Pro Anglers such as Bob Izumi, Dave Mercer and J.P. DeRose, along with their co-anglers, will compete for big bass and big bucks and raise money to support Canadian troops.
Berkley Canada

Berkley has come on board with a $2500 Berkley prize pack for the 5th place co-angler in the final standings at the Canadian Open. Plus, they have announced the Berkley Bounce Back $500 cash award for the angler that moves up the most positions in the standings from Day 1 to Day 3.

“Berkley is very proud to be participating in the Kingston Canadian Open,” states Marketing Manager Chris Hockley. “We sponsor numerous tournaments every year but this event is particularly special as we are able to show our steadfast support for our Canadian troops who continue to struggle, willing to sacrifice everything so that our nation may continue to enjoy the freedom we all cherish.”

G. Loomis

The prize list continues to grow for the Kingston Canadian Open anglers. As part of its commitment to this great fundraising event, G.Loomis has announced that each co-angler in the 11th to 15th positions in the final standings will receive a $750 rod and reel package.

“We’re pleased to support such a great community fundraiser,” states Bob Mahoney, Northern Marketing Manager for Shimano Canada. “The Kingston Canadian Open will be entertaining to watch unfold over three days as 160 anglers vie for cash and prizes, all the while supporting Canadian troops.”

Subway/Facts of Fishing

Subway Canada in cooperation with Facts of Fishing will provide sandwiches to all of the 160 participating anglers during the three days of competition.

The Kingston Canadian Open of Fishing will feature Pro anglers teaming up with non-boat or co-anglers for a 3 day bass tournament on Lake Ontario July 22nd to 24th. The Pros will be vying for a cash prize purse in excess of $100,000 with the top Pro of the tourney walking away with $40,000 in cash! The co-anglers have a chance at a list of prizes valued at over $50,000 including a first-place prize worth $20,000 in merchandise.

Tournament-caught bass will be returned to Lake Ontario each day via the Shimano Live Release System.

While the payouts to top anglers are large, the ultimate goal of The Kingston Canadian Open of Fishing is to raise money in support of injured or ill Canadian Forces personnel through the organization Soldier On. The Soldier On program, and the complementary Soldier On Fund, encourages ill and injured Canadian Forces personnel to attain and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. It supports these personnel in increasing their independence, in developing new skills and in achieving goals.
