2012 KINGSTON CANADIAN OPEN OF FISHING

    KINGSTON CANADIAN OPEN OF FISHING
    July 19, 20 and 21, 2012

    Tuesday, November 29, 2011

Kingston, Ontario will once again host the 2012 KINGSTON CANADIAN OPEN OF FISHING where 80 of Canada’s top celebrity and professional anglers will participate in Canada’s most anticipated event of the year on Thursday, July 19, 2012 through to Saturday, July 21, 2012 as registration for the event will commence on December 1, 2011 at 8:00 am.

Toronto, Ontario – Tuesday, November 29, 2011 the Competitive Sport Fishing League announced today that the KINGSTON CANADIAN OPEN OF FISHING will take place on July 19, 2012 through July 21, 2012 on Lake Ontario out of Kingston, Ontario. The CSFL will host a three-day, no elimination Pro/Am combined team weight event as this year the event will be in support of The Kingston Military Family Resource Centre (KMFRC). KMFRC is a registered non-profit, charitable organization that supports and enhances the health and well-being of the military community. an organization that assists injured or ill Canadian Forces personnel.

The inaugural event of 2010 set an all time Canadian record, as the event filled within 3 days of the opening registration and raised over $22,000 for Soldiers On, the 2011 event also held its own as it periled the inaugural event as Cory Johnston took home $40,000 in cash and Darren Izumi took home the 2011 Lund Boat package valued over $15,000.

The Canadian Open of Fishing will once again team up Pro anglers with co-anglers for a three-day bass tournament on Lake Ontario. The Pros will be competing for cash prizes exceeding $100,000 with this year’s winning Pro angler will walk away with $40,000 in cash, as the top co-angler will receive a $15,000 Lund/Mercury Boat package. This year, Ams will have a chance at an impressive list of prizes valued at well over $50,000. As the 2011 Kingston Canadian Open set a new precedent extending the pay structure to the 25th position, this year’s event will also maintain similar payouts based on a full field of 80 boats.

We are proud to announce Shimano Canada will again partner with the Kingston Canadian Open of Fishing. Bob Mahoney of Shimano Canada states “Shimano is proud to once again be a sponsor of the Kingston Canadian Open of Fishing. Shimano shares an interest in this great sport and will continue to play a role in an exciting and well received competitive angling event such as the KINGSTON CANADIAN OPEN OF FISHING and the charity it supports. Through this event, we are able to bring awareness and support to the Kingston Military Family Resource Centre.”

Andrew Pallotta of the CSFL states “With the pre-registration taking place immediately after the 2011 Kingston Canadian Open of Fishing event, the roster is already sitting in a very healthy state. With an 80 boat field size I am confident that this year’s registration will be another record breaking year.” Andrew then goes on to say, “I am especially excited for the co-anglers, as this year they will individually draw their own pros in the order in which they registered for the event. The Am’s will be required to attend a pre-orientation meeting at 3:00 pm to draw their Pro Anglers for the event.”

The official opening of registration for the 2012 KINGSTON CANADIAN OPEN OF FISHING will commence on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 8:00 am. In keeping the event fair for all competitors, start positions for the Pros with the exception of last year’s champion will be drawn daily, at the end of each day, until the field is full.

The Kingston Canadian Open of Fishing tournament will be run by the Competitive Sport Fishing League (CSFL). Registration fees are $1,000 for Pro anglers and $750 for amateurs/non-boaters. To register, contact the CSFL at Phone: 905-640-2277; Fax: 905-640- 2278; e-mail: bassmania@on.aibn.com.

Great to see Shimano backing this up and CSFL - both doing it for a great cause.

If last year it filled in 3 days, and I believe there was 110 spots - I wonder how long it will take to fill the 80 spots this year

I'm really debating whether or not to go next year because of some money and time commitments with a wedding and alot of time off work comin the month after, but if they really need some non-boaters to fill some spots let me know.
