Navionics Announces SonarCharts

Now available through Navionics Freshest Data updating program is Navionics SonarCharts. SonarCharts provides an alternative perspective for boaters and fishermen who want more detailed depth contours for safer navigation or for targeting productive fishing areas.

We all ask for better cartography. We all want the latest data. Now you can contribute and see the new details the next day. Buoys change, sand bars shift, new rocks and submerged structures are discovered every day. So why not see them all with SonarCharts? The best part of all is it is a completely FREE service. All you need to participate in this program is a Platinum Navionics chart.



Simply upload your sonar logs and within 24 hours the new bathymetric data is on your Platinum chart after using Freshest Data.

It’s fast and easy:

>Navionics integrates the new data with existing data
>Download New SonarCharts within 24 hours!

Even if your favorite lake is not mapped you can now go out, record your sonar data and create maps for that body of water. This process will take a little longer than the 24hrs that the standard process takes. In order to participate in this program all you need is a Platinum Navionics chart.

The easiest way to do it is to insert your Navionics Platinum card into a card reader on your computer with an internet connection and it will automatically prompt you to download their Navionics World App. From there you can update your chart with the freshest data and upload your sonar logs.

You require a Navionics Platinum card that was purchased after April 2010 and must contain a "nTag" file on the card.

I went to the site and in order to participate you need a chip that is less than two months old. My chip is over two years old so even if I wanted to help provide fresh data it won't work.

That is correct John. You need a chart that has a file on the card called nTag. If you have that file you can get the freshest data updates however there is a charge for the updates.

Navionics provides you with 1 full year of updates at no charge when you register your chart with them within 60 days of purchase. Anything beyond that or to renew there is a charge for people who have charts with the nTag file on them
