2014 marks the ‘17th’ year that the Quinte Fishing Series has been in existence and Sunday, May 25th celebrated the first of six Tournaments to be held throughout the season. Sunday proved to be a beautiful day good temperature and low winds. 35 local Teams and teams from as far away as Niagra Falls and Perth competed for a place in the top ten finishes of the one day ‘walleye’ tournament.

In First winning $2000 was Jacaques Patry and Jeff Kerr. They weighed in 22.46 lbs. Jacaques and Jeff also brought I the biggest fish for the day of 9.58 lbs. Big fish won the team $700 cash, 2 $25 gift certificates for the Boat House Restaurant and 2 Belleville Canadian Tire gift cards for $ 75. second place with 21.12 lbs was Andy Asseltine and Jason Sexsmith earning themselves $1000. Close behind Andy and Jason was Derek Tibault and Kevin Truelove weighing in at 20.68 lbs and earning 3rd place for a purse of $600. Fourth place took home $400 and Jeff Chisholm and Scott Walcott earned that place with a bag weighting 15.89 lbs. 6th through 10th place won their entry fee back of $185 and they were: in 6th Bryan McCaw and Nick Manger 15.66 lbs; in 7th Grant Elliott and Karl Newmayer 15.22 lbs; in 8th Matt Seely and Steve Yarrow 14.57 lbs; in 9th Sheldon Yuke and Jason Semark 12.81 lbs and in 10th Ben Asselstine and Darcy Asselstine 12.59 lbs.

Throughout the summer five more Tournaments will take place to be held on June 22nd (largemouth only); July 5th&6th (largemouth only); July 27th (largemouth & smallmouth); August 23rd&24th (largemouth & smallmouth); and September 13th&14th (largemouth only) with the Tournament being based out of George St, Belleville.

Each Tournament offers a "BIG FISH" pool and the team with the largest fish each day will also receive 2 ($75.00) gift certificates from Belleville Canadian Tire and 2 ($25.00) gift certificates compliments of the Boathouse Restaurant. Besides the top ten finish award for each Tournament – teams will be competing for "Angler/Team of the Year" with a Lund 14 WC aluminum boat and trailer with a Mercury 15hp outboard motor.

In addition to the generosity of 24 other local sponsors, this year Stratos Boats offerings to any winning team running a Stratos boat (model years 2012-2015) a ‘double their first place prize money up to $10,000.00’. Ranger Boats agrees to pay winners $250.00 at the five Quinte Fishing Series regular season events (if they are Ranger Boat compliant). Shimano is also providing a bulk spool of Power Pro and 2 Shimano Cumara rods as draw prizes each day throughout the season.
