For the second year Renegade Bass continues to be the only Canadian eligible tournament series to send teams to the Bassmaster Team Championship. The Bassmaster Team Championship sports an impressive list of cash and prizes including two (2) Bass Boat packages but all anglers are competing for the highly coveted spot in the super bowl of bass fishing, the 2016 Bassmaster Classic.
As announced by BASS this past February, the Bassmaster Team Championship will take place December 9-12, 2015 on the famed Lake Guntersville in Alabama. Qualifying teams will compete in a 2-day team tournament with a bass boat package as the first place prize. From the team tournament, the top 3 teams will compete in BASS provided bass boats over the next 2-days in a winner take all fish-off. The top angler after these 2 days will not only win a bass boat package but earn a spot in the 2016 Bassmaster Classic taking place March 4-6, 2016 on Grand Lake O' The Cherokees in Oklahoma.
Last year, Renegade Bass members Corey Gaffney & Tyler Ward finished 37th and Jean-Charles Goulet & Pierre-Hugues Lussier finished 53rd out of 132 teams on Lake Degray in Arkansas. All four anglers were very excited about the opportunity and look forward to trying to earn a right to go back this year.
All teams completing in the 2015 Renegade Bass series are automatically eligible with no additional registration fee. "Renegade Bass is very excited to once again offer anglers competing in Renegade Bass one of the quickest route to the Bassmaster Classic" says Renegade Bass president Michael Vandenberg.
The top two (2) teams as determined by the 2015 Team of the Year Standings and Classic XX results will earn the opportunity to represent Renegade Bass in the 2015 Bassmaster Team Championship. Teams must compete as registered in Renegade Bass and cannot use a substitute. If any team declines the opportunity, the next highest rank team will receive the opportunity. This will continue untill two (2) teams have committed to competing in the team championship.
