    Lawren: Help with Waypoint Sharing

Hi Lawren: speaking with Jack earlier and he mentioned to pose my question/scenario to you.

Here is the my set up - HDS 10 gen 2 at console, and HDS 5 gen 2 at bow with a Structure Scan HD SI module. I currently have a Ethernet cable from the hds 5 and the hds 10 both running into the structure scan module.

First question: when a waypoint is entered into either unit, why will it not show on the second unit?

Second question: I converted hummingbird waypoints over to lowrance using GPS Babel program. When I insert SD card into the HDS unit, nothing appears to happen i.e. transferring and loading the converted waypoints.

Any idea's? If I can give you more details, please advise.

    Thanks in advance ........................

    Pepe,
The structure scan module has to be powered on to share waypoints.

    Yep, done that many times.

It could also be a bad network cable, the most definitive check is to try a different set of network cables. I would check if all sharing is affected; see if you can view bow transducer data at the console or see bow transducer temp data at the console head unit. We have a very similar setup and sharing is nearly instant.

Thanks, guys - all worked out!!!! Listened to a extremely knowledgeable buddy who advised me to RTFM. I did, and my colour blind vision made me not connect the yellow wire to the proper source - doh.

You'll have to tell the unit to transfer the waypoints it doesn't do it automatically. Hit Pages and move the carousel to the far right and you'll have Files as an option on the bottom I think. In there you can access your Memory Card and then highlight the waypoint file you saved and press Menu. Select Import and it should be good to go.
