Toyota Truck to take over Record Payout
Press Release
For Immediate Release: June 19th 2008
The Aurora Bassmasters are excited to announce that Toyota Truck has thrown its respective support behind their partnership with Bass Pro Shops for the Annual Bass Pro Shops Lake Simcoe Open slated for Saturday, October 25th out of Sibbald Point Provincial Park. With its commitment, Toyota Truck assumes title of the Record Payout!
The Toyota Truck Record Payout (TTRP) is a separate purse awarded to the winning Team if they are to break the magic 30lb mark; 30.01lb or greater. The BPS Lake Simcoe Open currently holds the all-time, one-day Canadian tournament record set at 29.90lb for five fish in 2006. If the 30lb mark is broken at another tournament before the 2008 BPS Lake Simcoe Open, the winning Team would have to successfully break the newly established record to collect the TTRP.
“The TTRP is yet another unparalleled opportunity to build upon the success of our partnership with Bass Pro Shops.” said Jeff Powell, Marketing Manager, Toyota Canada Inc. “Like any Toyota Truck, whether it’s the all-new Sequoia or the 2008 Motor Trend Truck of the Year (Tundra), the Record Payout establishes a benchmark that others can only follow! We are excited to take over title of the Record Payout; coupled with Bass Pro Shops’ commitment, this will see the Toyota Truck Record Payout increase by $5,000 a year . . . a structured year-over-year bonus only surpassed by the industry leading quality, dependability, and reliability that forms the rock-solid foundation of every Toyota Truck.” Powell concluded.
Herb Quan President of the Aurora Bassmasters added that, “On behalf of the entire Aurora Bassmaster chapter I’d like to thank Jeff Powell and Toyota Canada for their commitment and foresight. This will no doubt lend to the overall success of the BPS Lake Simcoe Open and the excitement of the elusive 30lb mark!.”
Coupled with Bass Pro Shops, Toyota Truck’s commitment will now see the Toyota Truck Record Payout increase by an additional $5,000 in 2009 if the record is not broken in October of this year. As it stands, the 2008 TRRP is valued at $10,000 in cash!
Limited Field … Early Application Encouraged:
Competing anglers are encouraged to pre-apply as the second year field will be limited to 80 teams. NEW: total entry fees per team will be $280; this includes $20 for Big Fish and $10 for Launch. Anglers wishing to pre-apply should send a $50.00 non-refundable deposit (cheque) or the entire amount payable to Aurora Bassmasters: c/o Herb Quan 58 English Ivy Way, Willowdale, ON M2H 3M4. Cheques must accompany a completed 2008 Application Form available through www.aurorabass.com. An Application Form by itself does not automatically constitute entry; furthermore, the Tournament Director reserves the right to refuse/deny entry.
Outside the traditional 80% payout structure from entry fess, the overall payout from respective sponsors and various incentives and manufacturer bonuses, brings the actual payout to 125%. Additional announcements are pending in support of the BPS Lake Simcoe Open by participating sponsors including Tracker Boats, Rapala and many, many more.
In order to maintain the highest level of communication between tournament organizers and anglers prior to the event itself, we are asking all applicants to include their email addresses on the Application Form so that all notices and event-related messaging can be relayed directly to all interested parties. As new information is made available, it will be posted on the Aurora Bassmasters site at www.aurorabass.com in the coming weeks and months. Application Forms and a complete listing of Rules, Regulations & General Liability will be made available online through the Aurora Bassmasters.
The BPS Lake Simcoe Open is recognized as the premier one-day, team-format tournament event in the country. It highlights the tremendous bass fishery of one of the finest trophy lakes in North America; and, only an hour north of Toronto, Lake Simcoe is easily accessible to thousands of bass anglers. With the TTRP in place this generates a tremendous amount of excitement and momentum. For full details please refer to the Rules Regulations & General Liability.

Toyota has good foresight getting so involved in fishing these past few years. This event gets better with each passing sponsor that jumps on board.
