Earth Day Clean Up
If anyone knows of high school students who require community service hours ... please send them our way for this 'really fun' event!
For Immediate Release:
Aurora Bassmasters Plan Annual Earth Day Clean Up in East Gwillimbury
The Aurora Bassmasters would like to invite Big Fat Bass members to participate in their annual Earth Day Roadside Clean Up Event – this Sunday April 22nd.
For the last several years volunteers from the club have performed a roadside clean-up of Queensville Side Road from Bathurst Street in the west to the lights at the 2nd Concession in the east. “This is a full four kilometres each way and we could sure use some help” said club president Dave Meadows. “This year we will once again be doing this project as our commitment to help keep the Lake Simcoe watershed clean and are inviting the local community to come out this Sunday from 8:30 am-12pm to help us clean up the local roadside,” said Meadows.
The club plans to meet at 8:15am at the River Drive Park Community Hall – ¼ km north of Queensville Rd off Oak St. From there they will break out into teams and begin to pick up garbage. Garbage will be put into piles along the roadside and collected by the Town. All garbage bags, gloves and other equipment will be supplied by York Region, but if you have your own gloves and an orange safety vest, please bring them as supplies could be limited. Some years, several parents with young families choose to clean up around the local playground within the community of River Drive Park ...which works out well and can be done this year again. The club also plans to reward efforts with a free hot dog BBQ afterwards outside of the local hall at the River Drive Park Community.
The club encourages high school students who need community service hours to help take advantage of this opportunity, so they must make sure they bring their forms to be signed. All children will need to be under direct supervision by their own parents/guardians who will be responsible for them.
