If you plan to mount your new Lowrance HDI Skimmer transducer that came with your Elite unit on your trolling motor you should consider adding a transducer shield for this setup. On the new HDI transducer there is a plastic bracket that slides onto the transducer which is then attached to the mounting hardware. This plastic bracket can be a weak link should you accidentally hit an underwater obstruction.


The best way to avoid doing damage to the mount ($40 to replace) or even the transducer ($130 to replace) is to protect it with a Transducer Shield and Saver TSHDI2.
